Visualization Tools
It can often be difficult to explain the results from acoustical analysis to the general public. Therefore Blue Ridge Research and Consulting has developed a number of specialized noise visualization tools to help with demonstrating acoustic principles. The most effective is through 3-D model rendering of the location of interest and displaying the noise as colored contours.
- Auralization of modeled noise
- Three dimensional visualization
- Public demonstration animations
Below is an example of an animation of the 3-D sound contours draped over actual terrain. The flight modeled below is from a single engine propeller aircraft flying around the Asheville area. It is a purely fictitious flight track designed to fly through a valley. Notice how the noise is concentrated into the valley as the aircraft flies through. These tools are critical to help visualize the impact of specific sound sources and help to explain how the sound interacts with the local terrain. Using these tools we have been able to help clients identify important noise issues and help provide recommendations for reducing noise impacts.
