Blue Ridge Research and Consulting specializes in all types of environmental noise issues. Our expertise includes measurement, modeling, and analysis of outdoor acoustics, including airports, highways, railways, industrial plants, outdoor warning siren systems, amphitheaters, and natural soundscapes.
Our modeling experience ranges from publicly available models such as the civilian models TNM and INM, as well as military noise and sonic boom models such as NoiseMap, MR_NMAP, SARNAM, and BNoise, PCBoom, and BoomMap. In addition, we have advanced in-house modeling capabilities with our own noise models, and we are actively involved with the creation of a new generation of noise models that will more fully utilize the power of modern computers.
Our measurement experience encompasses both small and large scale measurement programs. Our staff has been involved with the design of highly complex measurement arrays requiring 50+ channels of synchronized data collection as well as defining the test and data analysis protocols. Other experiences include natural soundscape measurements in national parks, massive measurement arrays covering hundreds of square miles, and recordings of individual events with state of the art recording equipment.
