Aviation Noise Analyst

BRRC is seeking an experienced environmental noise analyst for our Asheville, NC office. This position involves work on a diverse set of projects including preparation of airport/airfield noise analyses for military and civilian customers in support of Environmental Impact Analysis, DoD AICUZ studies, and/or FAA Part 150. Responsibilities include modeling aviation and other transportation noise sources, interaction with DoD and commercial clients, and technical reporting. In addition, contributing to our applied research projects will provide the successful applicant with interesting and rewarding work.

Skills: Applicants must be team oriented, have excellent oral and written communication skills and enjoy working in a high-energy environment. Further, they must apply their strong analytical and computer skills to unique and challenging problems in the military and transportation industries.

Experience: Minimum of two-years of experience (or a Masters of Science) conducting aviation noise analyses using the DoD’s NoiseMap program and/or the FAA’s INM/AEDT. Familiarity with airport environmental studies and data collection is required. Additional experience with industry standard transportation noise models and GIS analysis is preferred. More experience candidates, who have a desire to lead projects, expand current lines of work, and potentially explore new areas of opportunities, will also be considered. Previous experience interacting with clients, conducting business development, and writing proposals is also preferred for more experienced candidates.

Education: BS degree or higher with a major in planning, sciences, or engineering disciplines preferred. Degrees in other areas will be considered for more experienced applicants.
