AV-8B Noise File Measurements - 07/24/06

BRRC provided Wyle Laboratories with technical oversight of the noise characterization measurements of the AV-8B Harrier at NAWCWD China Lake.

Description

To support required environmental documentation, a new series of noise measurements were conducted for the AV-8B. This effort provided updated noise data for use in the Navy/Marine Corps’s Air Installation Compatible Use Zones (AICUZ) Program. This updated acoustical data will be used in the modeling of noise exposure contours and will augment the DOD NOISEFILE database.

The AV-8B noise study involved noise measurements while the aircraft is performing ground run-ups, push-ups, and level flyovers according to a specific matrix of operating conditions which included both normal flight and vectored thrust conditions.

The measured data will be analyzed by Wyle Laboratories.
